About

Our Story

Matthew was the light of every single life he touched. His face lit up a room, his smile was brighter than the sun, and his personality and humor led everyone to be their best selves when they were around him.  Unfortunately, addiction pulled him away from us too soon.  He took everyone’s struggles and made them his own.  He faced his own demons every day without ever letting them burden another soul.  Our goal is to make sure that those who are struggling are able to find the help and the solace that they need.  Matthew would want that for everyone.  He was doing everything in his power to fight this awful disease and unfortunately, this time, it just wasn’t enough. Addiction does not discriminate.  It can take the best of us in the blink of an eye. Please join us in our fundraising efforts as we try to stamp out the stigma of addiction, spread awareness of this awful disease, and hopefully save even just one more soul from leaving this earth before their time.

Our Mission

The Matthew Tarnopol Foundation has been established to help individuals lead a healthy and sober lifestyle after a rehabilitation treatment by providing opportunities for financial and emotional support.  Once patients have entered treatment, our hope is to provide them with the opportunity to apply for financial grants that may include the following:

          • Assist in paying 1 -2 month’s rent in a sober living facility.

          • Once entered, sober living patients may apply to have monthly food, clothing, doctor’s visits or transportation allowance.

          • Continued education or GED programs.

Our intention is to also offer several complementary programs and events, which may include the following:

          • Health and wellness retreats

          • Local weekly exercise classes

          • Sober music events

          • Art therapy programs

          • Sporting leagues

Addiction does not discriminate. We hope to not only spread awareness about the addiction crisis in our country but also to help change the face and stigma of this disease. We intend to create an environment where people feel confident and supported on their journey to sobriety.

“Most of us live our lives by accident - we live as it happens. Fulfillment comes when we live our lives on purpose.
